Registered Social Worker

Sri Mysore

B.Sc., LLB, BSW, Dip. in allied mental health

Community development has always been at the forefront of Sri Mysore’s career, much to the advantage of Shanti Niwas.

Sridhara Mysore (Sri) immigrated to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2001 with his family after working in Australia for 4 years. But Sri’s initial roots are from the Palace City of Mysore in the Southern State of Bharath/India in Karnataka where he completed many hours of community development work.

In NZ, Sri was encouraged and inspired by the Social Workers who came to support the migrants and refugees at his workplace, ARMS. So he decided to become a qualified Social Worker himself.

Sri achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work Practice and his Post Graduate Diploma in Allied Mental Health to become a qualified and Registered Social Worker. His core specialisation is in Adult Mental Health, community development work and Transcultural Social Work.

Registered Social Worker

Verona Sequeira

BSW(Bicultural), Dip. in Counselling

Verona has two passions in life: to work with children and to work with senior citizens. Through Shanti Niwas, we are excited to say that she has achieved them both. Born and raised in Bombay, India, Verona worked as an Executive Secretary before migrating to New Zealand with her husband and 2 children in 1993. She worked for the Indian community before living her passion by joining Barnardos. Her love for working with children grew, gaining various tertiary qualifications and culminating in her opening a daycare centre in 2002.

The call to help remained strong, so in 2014, Verona joined Te wananga O Aotearoa and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (Biculturalism-BSW). In 2019, she also completed a diploma in Psychology and Counselling from Careers New Zealand to upskill herself. Now, she uses her extensive skill and knowledge to help seniors through Shanti Niwas. Still a powerhouse, she now takes life at a more relaxed pace, enjoying her work and time with her grandchildren. She is a proud grandmother to two lovely boys.
