About Us

In January 1994, with great enthusiasm, encouragement, and the full support of Methodist Mission Northern, a support group was formed, initially with 8 seniors, who attended meetings monthly. Seniors had the opportunity to socialize, share experiences and participate in various activities such as physical exercise, health awareness sessions, craft makingand cultural events, which helped build their confidence and self-esteem. Within a short time, through word of mouth, more seniors joined and the attendance increased to approximately 25.

Due to its growing success, in November 1998 the SHANTI NIWAS CHARITABLE TRUST incorporated a non-profit organization was formally established. Today the organisation regularly supports 500 seniors annually. Together with a team of dedicated staff and volunteers, the Trust has become a major service provider for the seniors of Indian and South Asian Origin. This is a great achievement.
